Guess what we are making tonight? BBQ. If you haven’t noticed by now, I love BBQ. BBQ anything and it will be better. I’m making BBQ char siu spare ribs. The boyfriend’s dad makes a killer char siu pork which they sell at the market every Saturday and Sunday. He definitely has perfected the recipe and method. And NO, I don’t know the recipe. My recipe is for those who lack time like myself.
1 slab pork spare ribs (approximately 3-4 lbs)
1 jar Lee Kum Kee Char Siu Sauce
1 bag Noh Char Siu powder
1/3 cup oyster sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 cups water
On cutting board, trim the excess membrane and fat. Cut the slab into individual ribs.
The scary nuclear meltdown red color is food color. Don’t be alarm. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. I marinated my ribs overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 30 mins. While the ribs are in the oven, heat up the grill. After the ribs are removed from the oven, place directly on BBQ grill for another 10 mins to get it the ribs charred. If I’m really lazy or short on time (which is often), I will skip the roasting and go straight to grilling.
